Family trees

I came across a really interesting website today to help you find out more about your ancestors as I wanted to find out more about my family tree. The website , called the Genealogy guide, can be found at http://www.genealogy-guide.org.uk. It gives you information on where to start, such as where to find sources from to help you create a tree.

Here is an excerpt from the website:

"Genealogy involves studying and tracing family pedigrees, with the purpose of tracking down ancestors, creating a family tree or learning about family history. If you are interested in genealogy then this is the place to find out about the different sources available to help you learn about your family history."
Family trees is something most of us think about at some time or other- maybe I'll find I was related to someone famous!

18/1/07 Final Day of Placement

Today I rang up Christa Ackroyd and interviewed her, I then write a feature on her. I also contacted numerous other celebrities, and got a response from Billy Pearce saying I could interview him. I also intend to chase up the Bradford Bulls and Chris Fountain, as well as Jack Shepherd an Darryl in Corrie, as I am going to be writing a regular page in the magazine called "Celebrity interviews with Kayleigh".

Work placement 17/1/08

Today I updated advertiser records and sorted them out into a new filing system that I created. I also added more advertiser details from competitor magazines into ACT. I also edited the feature with Gerry Sutcliffe for the publication, which is due out on February 4th. I tried to ring Christa but she was busy.

Travel insurance

A lot of us will be thinking about jetting off to warmer climates at this time of year- the weather hasn't exactly been great lately and a lot of us are full of cold and flu. I certainly feel like I need a holiday just to recover from Christmas.

However, many people may be jetting off to places where there is lots of snow, such as Scotland or Canada.

Wherever you decide to go, one things for sure, you need to take out travel insurance, it's now a requirement. And finally, there is a website that compares the best travel insurance providers, all for free. The website is called http://www.travelinsuranceguide.org.uk/ and contains all the popular providers, from Churchill Insurance to Post Office Insurance. The website also offers advice on what kind of policy to take out, and has lots of help and advice on every matter of taking out travel insurance, such as what to do if you loose your passport to giving advice for backpacking students or the over 50's. Here is an excerpt from the website:

"In this guide we aim to make your search for travel insurance as painless as possible, here you can find information on the different types of insurance available as well as the types of considerations you’ll need to make when buying insurance for any trip abroad."
Now all you need to do is book the holiday.

Today I updated the records of the magazines customers. I also put more contacts into ACT. I phoned Christa, but she was busy so I emailed her the questions instead. I also emailed Chris Fountain and asked if I could interview him tommorrow.
